Went for couples massage, beautiful facility. My massage was not good! I basically got a rubbed down oil bath. It was supposed to be a deep tissue massage. I mentioned to the front desk that my massage was not good and the girl just smiled and asked me to pay. Did not care that I wasn't happy with my 150$ lame massage. Not ever going back

**update. after careful consideration, I am going to leave my post up. this review is accurate and honest. For clients who rely on their service providers to take safety precautions during an unprecedented event, this review might be the only thing that allows them to make an informed choice. I have no personal vendetta against this business, in fact I am a former client of nine years. My only wish is to allow people to protect themselves if they feel unsafe by my comments.*** Bizarre spa.
I know they are anti vaxx and against mask policies. How do I know? They told me while I was booking appointments. Twice. The first was when they said "we are requiring masks.unfortunately." The second time, when I asked if the person who gave facials was vaccinated (a service that requires intimate contact without masks) they said "my body my choice" and then said they would need to get back to me the next day.
When I canceled because I am looking to avoid politics, they said "no judgments".however the judgment was clear. If you are concerned about your health.they actually aren't. Not a place I would expect to receive care. They only care about themselves.

We are a group of women who have been coming to Shibui for years. We always feel such decadence and privilege to be able to enjoy such luxury. This year I personally had the finest massage by such a warm and inspirational spirit, Zoe. I felt nurtured, cherished and appreciated. My facial by Sandy left my skin glowing and feeling so indulged. Thank you for offering such a consistently beautiful experience we always look so forward to. Another wonderful visit to Shibui. We've tried other spas but nothing provides the level of relaxation, feeling of wellness, and attention to detail that we have experienced at Shibui. This visit was especially noteworthy because there was a staffing shortage issue(like everywhere right now) and it looked like they might have to cancel. We totally understood but then the owner decided to do my husbands massage(which he said was the best he's ever had) instead of canceling and then didn't even charge us. I got the Dance of the Desert body treatment and it is unbelievable. Thank you for making our anniversary rejuvenating and special.

I have been going to shibui spa since 2012. It has been a source of respite and relaxation. When I spoke on the phone this year however, shibui has gone super political. The reception has said "we have to wear masks. Unfortunately." when we asked if employees for facials were vaccinated, they said "my body my choice." It is super awkward and weird to have such an intimate setting with a giant buddha statue inside to be so self absorbed and non world conscious. Sadly will never be coming back.
And wonder what the people of Thailand, Sri Llanka, and other Buddhist monks would think of this spa touting rhetoric while the people of those countries lie in severe danger without vaccine. : Stuff I did not want to consider while relaxing at a spa.

I can't imagine a more beautiful place and experience anywhere. Nestled in the woods, quiet, peaceful, immaculately clean, pleasant people, and the best massage I've ever had. I go at least once a month and have never been disappointed.
