We foster the therapist's own integrity and wellness and believe that this is the foundation of a successful healing encounter. We train shiatsu therapists to work in partnership with their clients to co-create outcomes that are sourced from the inner healing potential of the clients themselves.

Our History

Zen Shiatsu Chicago (formerly Ohashiatsu Chicago), is Chicago's oldest shiatsu center. In 1988, the center was founded by Matthew Sweigart as a branch school of the Ohashi Institute, NYC. Over the next eighteen years, Ohashiatsu Chicago generated an enormous output of talented healers, gifted instructors, and transformed clients.

Receive the Western Anatomy & Physiology training of a massage school plus the holistic Eastern medical training of an acupuncture school. Over eighteen months of part-time study or nine months of full-time study, you will move through a progressive series of practical courses and clinical practice, supplemented by the same Chinese Medicine seminars taught to acupuncturists and the same Anatomy & Physiology classes taught to massage therapists. In shiatsu, we assume that every person has within themselves everything they need for their own healing.
