Chumayo Spa

First time experiencing the sensory deprivation. After i was able to relax my entire body just released. It helped with my anxiety and it kind of reset my internal clock. For weeks I've been staying up till 3 or 5am. After this experience, ive been to bed by 11 and waking up well rested at a decent hour. The staff is friendly and its a relaxing place.

This place was amazing from booking, to payment. My girlfriend is a massage therapist and is crazy picky about her massages, and this is the first place in Humboldt that she said she'd go back to! Shout out to Leah I joined for a sauna after and again everything was just so well done. I will be highly be recommending them in the future

I have been to several spa's in this area and others. this place takes it. Great body work and excellent packages. Very clean and wonderful customer service! Highly recommend! A hidden gem for sure.

I absolutely love this place! The flotation tank is great and fits two people. The staff is always friendly and nice. The environment is clean and peaceful. The masseuses are skilled.

Nice establishment, I am not sure that the staff working there were happy to be there, no smiles at all. Every experience is different and I am sure that they have many happy customers. My experience was not pleasant, one day after and two days after and a week after my left side has gone from no discomfort or issues to having pain on may pinky finger, shoulder and left side of my left hand.

I used their floating bath after one hour massage. It was disappointing. I was floating therefore wet and that room small space didn't have any heat thus the parts of my body floating out if the water were cold, no bueno. I will not come back and will not pass on referrals to my friends and family.

Fantastic people work here. The overnight accomidations will short circuit any mortal confusion life may dish out. In a life that is temporary, this is the kind of place you will not regret emersion. Get the massage, take the sauna or hot tub, and share the bliss whenever oppertunity lends itsself. This place is blussful.

Supper fun. Clean room. Lots of light and having access to a hot tub is super nice. My only objection is that the room felt sterile and needed an update from the 90's.

Chumayo Spa in Blue Lake is a beautiful place! Cedar Saunas, Float pool, Excellent Massage Therapists and an atmosphere designed to make you feel as if you're in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Used to love this place. It has gotten pretty run down in the last year. As soon as i walked inside, I found a dog terd on the stairs that leads up to the guest room. Then, the room wasn't very clean. Sticky rings and crumbs on kitchen counter, dirty bathroom floor, used towel wadded up on bathroom shelf, crumbs in the chairs by the window, spots on the mirror, hair in the sink, and funny smell in the room. patio area had clothes and towels from previous guests, hot tub area was really unkempt and dirty. Felt like no one had cleaned in months.

My husband and I stayed overnight and got the couples massages. The massages were amazing and the room was super cute complete with kitchenette and private hot tub was fabulous! Definitely a little piece of heaven in Blue Lake.

Michelle was unforgettable with her energy and touch. The flotation pool was a unique experience. We plan to return soon.

Absolutely love the salt water tank float! I'm going to buy a gift package for my man and I! The time in the float helps me have clarity and more! My man loves to have a tank float and massage here! He loved both. I didn't have a massage so I can't review yet trust him and his review! Enjoy

I really loved the several massage experiences I had here. Loved the hot stones, and really love the sauna before the Massage.

This review is for the guest room and sauna and massage package. We came here last January for my boyfriend's birthday. The sauna was great, and the massages were outstanding! My only complaint for the guest room is that the bed could have been more comfortable. I will definitely come back for other services, but not to spend the night. Overall it was a great experience!

I had such a wonderful massage here after being referred by a couple of my friends who are regulars. I believe it was Leah? that was my massage therapist (it's been a couple months now). She was very kind, and being in the beauty/service industry myself I was VERY pleased she was willing to stay until 5:30 to fit me in that day. Their prices were better then most places & I loved the atmosphere inside.

I will never go anywhere else for a massage after trying them. I was a little nervous when I pulled up because it does seem to be in an awkward location, but once I stepped inside I had zero doubts! Try them out!

Went here for a sauan/couple's massage experience with my boyfriend and loved it! When we pulled up I was a little worried because it's in a pretty sketchy town, but once you get inside the decor is beautiful and cozy. The sauna is in a private room with a shower (soap and shampoo included). After the sauna we went in a big room with pretty decor and lots of plants.

At first it seemed a bit too bright, but it ended up not bothering me. The massage was THE BEST. I felt like my masseuse really found my problem areas and focused on them. It was so good I was almost drooling! Would highly recommend.

This review is of the guest room. Wish our travels had allowed time to use the spa! But we were on a tight schedule, and had to be on the road pretty early. The guest room is upstairs of the spa and has the nice feel of being at home - not your usual hotel/motel or casino accommodation. Interesting and eclectic and met our needs. We liked that it is right across the street from the Logger Bar - where we know the proprietress. We definitely will stay here again if our travels bring us by here.

Review of the guest room, not spa. Visited our daughter and she set us up for the night here. Room is upstairs above spa, more like a studio apartment with a Murphy bed and a loft sleeping area. It's warm and spacious with a little stocked kitchen, nice DVD library, lots of natural light. Spa was closed but we used the outside perfect-for-2 sized hot tub, private with nice mood lighting.

Neighborhood bar across the street, cafe on the corner. Great place to stay if you 'd rather have a relaxed quiet, homey feel rather than a populated cookie cutter hotel room.

Stayed in their super cute room for a business trip. Nice option of you want to get away from the casino. The room is like a little furnished apartment. And who wouldn't love your own private hot tub?

The massage was great! The atmosphere wasn't relaxing or tranquil and the room was too bright in my opinion.

The floatation pool was very relaxing and the spas amenities and services were first rate. A real getaway!

We rented the guest quarters for three days and received the full spa treatment. Everything was wonderful. The people are friendly and professional, the facilities are beautiful and well-maintained, and the studio apartment (with skylights and outdoor hot tub) made for a dream vacation. Located in a quiet and friendly town just 5 miles outside of Arcata. We spent the days hiking the redwoods and seeing the coastal towns, and were happy to come "home" to Chumayo. Highly recommended.

Had a couples massage there today for an hour. The time seemed to just slip away! The whole experience was extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. A gentle and soothing ambiance with a very friendly staff, I feel highly encouraged to make this a monthly endeavour.

I had the best massage of my life at Chumayo with Katie this weekend! I had the one hour standard massage but it was not standard. Katie is intuitive, gifted and down to earth. I made a phone call immediately following my massage and I had no consonants I was so relaxed :- My body felt good for days after. This is a serene space with excellent therapists and reasonable prices. I highly recommend Chumayo and especially Katie if you are in the Humboldt County area.

Amazing massages, and great massage therapists. The interior design is so relaxing and truly makes you feel at home. Zimba, the spa cat, is also definitely a plus.

Had my first experience at Chumayo last week for my birthday. It was excellent! The interior is calming and centering, the smells and sounds were amazing, as was the treatment I got. I loved Zimba the spa cat, too! I cannot wait to go back and try something else!

Beautiful atmosphere and ambiance! As soon as you walk in the door, it is as if you enter New Mexico and a sacred healing place. They have wonderful therapists, large saunas and a relaxing floating pool. I recommend the over night room for a comfortable, home -away-from home stay!

The epsom salt floatation pools are an amazing way to connect to your inner universe, deepening the mind-body experience.
