Kanani Pearl Spa

I have been getting facials and occasional massages from this spa for about 8 years! Every Mother's Day and sometimes my Birthday. In recent years I've made it a point to go and get facials and massages here even when it's not a special occasion lol! Lauren has been a dream, she has even given my teen son a few facials, helping him get a good routine in place (he has mild acne) He loved it! We adore this spa and have had nothing but good experiences. Always Welcoming staff members and always very accommodating

Beautiful interior. I had a body polish by Joe. He did stunning work on my body and was very personable. I will definitely be going back!

Kelly just gave me the best massage of my life (and I've had quite a few). I also had a glorious scrub, which was a perfect way to get the session started. This was my first visit to Kanani and I was impressed in every way. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and every person I came across was pleasant and helpful. The facilities are much nicer than a typical day-spa (outside of a hotel spa setting), and the ambiance is incredibly relaxing. I will be back (as MUCH as possible)!

Owner is very unprofessional and rude. She could have handled my gift card situation w grace and kindness but was offensive and accusatory. I would suggest that she require gift card numbers before booking and not telling customers to print them off and bring them in. Because she was too impatient for me to find my gift number while on the phone I suffered much unnecessary stress.

I booked a hot stone massage because I have muscle damage from having several grand mal seizures, and a few days before the appointment I called the spa to ask if it was possible for the masseuse to wear gloves when she wasn't using the stones. I got a call back from owner Mary-Ellen Makai (i think that's how it's spelled) lecturing me about how the entire purpose of massage was "therapeutic touch" (in her words) and, unprompted, she'd be erasing my appointment.

I told her I didn't find it necessary for her to erase the appointment, and that I booked the massage because I actually needed to reap the benefits from the massage. Not just be touched by someone. She became audibly annoyed with me, and made no effort to hide how this conversation was clearly some sort of inconvenience for her. When I told her that I'd booked with her salon because I'd only seen good reviews, she said "Yeah, I bet" in the middle of my sentence and interrupted me to ask "Why are you pushing so hard for her to wear gloves?

We are NOT that kind of spa." I had no idea what she meant by this, so at this point I just asked if there was any kind of logistical process reason outside of personal preference that made it impossible for the masseuse to wear gloves. She said "just the way it is. I'm going to erase the appointment (she pauses) and end this call now." I tell her that she sounds embarrassed, she scoffs with a "not really!" like a teenage girl, and then hangs up the phone. Incredibly unprofessional, extremely questionable why a masseuse wasn't willing to adjust the situation to make the recipient more comfortable (ALL I asked was for her to wear gloves when she wasn't using the stones because I didn't want to feel her skin), and extremely disappointing to see such a well reviewed establishment turn out to be managed by someone with such an immature attitude and approach towards their customers. Frankly, I'm very disgusted with the way I've been treated by management at this location, especially over a situation that did not have to blow up into what she turned it into. Very disappointing.

The owner is clueless and ridiculous, she does not know that she is hurting her business and making stupid simple mistakes that could be avoided. Very disappointed and very unpleased with this business, they are losing customers or potential customers by making easy mistakes that could be avoided. For example, need online booking, need a receptionist and the owner needs to run the business but not day to day activities.

They need to be open more and more telephone availability because you can never get them which is why they have poor communication because they are closed more and only have one person answering the calls the owner which is making mistakes, then have someone, like a receptionist make appointments. Thanks needs zero stars but stay away! I feel bad but small business are losing to big business for spa because of easy avoided mistakes.

Very Disappointed. Had the worst massage ever in my life by Joe. Not relaxing at all and I felt worse when I left. Expected more out of my facial. It was quick and not much was done. I will not be returning and will go elsewhere next time.

I called on a Friday afternoon and left a message on the machine that I was looking for a massage in the next few days. To my surprise I was called back immediately and they were able to fit me in that day at 4:00pm. I was booked with Joe and requested a deep tissue. OMG is Joe a great masseur! Days after the massage my muscles are still relaxed. He worked our tension in my upper neck/shoulder area as well as my hips. 10/10 would recommend to everyone. The spa itself is lovely. Very clean, calm and welcoming. So glad I found this place and can't wait to be a regular!

Long overdue review about Kanani Pearl Spa. I've been going to Lauren Rose for Facials for the last two years and can't say enough good things about her and everyone at the Spa. She completely changed my skin after I started experiencing breakouts at age 40. I get complements on my skin all the time, and am glowing every time I walk out of Kanani, which I attribute to Lauren Rose and all of the incredible skin care lines she has introduced me to. Don't skimp on your skin care routine ladies! Regular facials and good product lead to beautiful skin!

Kanani was the only spa in the Portland area that was able to fit in 3 of us for a spa day on short notice. Everyone was so nice, and we really felt pampered. Two of us had a facial and massage, and I had a body scrub and massage. Everything was great! I have to give a shout out to Joe - he gave me a body scrub and massage, and it was so wonderful.

He was not afraid to get in there and work on some knots I've had for a while, while also keeping it very relaxing. My daily headaches have been a lot better since, which is a huge plus. Thank you to everyone at Kanani!

Best spa in Portland? Best spa in Portland people! Lauren did wonders to my skin during my facial. Took her time and used amazing products. The entire experience was so relaxing and my face was GLOWING. Highly recommend.

In town on a kid free girls weekend and wanted to get a facial as a little treat to myself. Found this place on Yelp and so glad I did. Had the best, most relaxing facial ever, done by Jerrica. She is amazing. My friend had to cancel her reservation due to illness and they were so kind about it and expressed concern for my friend instead of annoyance over canceling. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Kanani Pearl Spa. I had an hour long facial and an hour long massage, both were incredible. The staff were very friendly and informative, and made me feel so welcome and all around fantastic during the treatments I received. Joe was my massage therapist, he did a phenomenal job. Laura did my facial and she was an absolute delight. Thank you for making me feel like a goddess for day!

I purchased an escape package that included a body scrub, massage and facial. The experience was very nice and totally relaxing. The therapists were very professional and caring. I hope to return soon to try other services.

Found this place on yelp and was also recommended by a near by hotel I was staying at. Really wanted to #treatyoself, as I was in pdx to celebrated my birthday. So much relaxation. So many knots being released. So worth the money spent.

Was excited to try this spa for the first time then was disappointed that I couldn't reach them via phone after two calls during business hours and the message I left was not returned. Is it possible they were having phone issues? I guess I'll never know.

I have always enjoyed Kanani over the years for facials! They use great products and know what they are doing. I'm a bit picky with facials but have never had a bad one there. There is also a one person steam room available. The staff is wonderful too.

What a gem in the pearl! Had a lovely facial from Anya. Great products, great ambiance and my skin feels fabulous. Can't wait to go back and try a massage!

Very nice facilities. 60 minute massage was booked for 2pm, and we were asked to arrive 15 min early, which we did. Despite our early arrival, the massage therapists came to the waiting room 5 min after the scheduled start time. By the time the massage started it was 2:10pm and the massage ended at exactly 3pm. For over $100, I expect the massage to last the full time.

When I addressed it with the woman at reception (the owner?) she said that since it was 3:10 now (I had gotten dressed and went the restroom) the massage was indeed a full 60 minutes. So- she did not acknowledge the issue at all. I think the issue is that they don't have many rooms and they haven't built time in their schedule to turn the rooms over. This could be solved by being transparent about the 50 minute massage time or another scheduling method. The massage itself was fine. Will try somewhere else next time.

Took my mom here today for her birthday. We did the all day spa package and we didn't want to leave! We were so taken care of here and it's so relaxing with all of the fabulous and water sounds that you forget you're in the middle of the city! Selina did my scrub and massage and did great! She has a lighter touch, when I'm used to deep tissue, but I started snoring so that's a good sign!

My mom had Kailin for massage and LOVED her. Anya did our facials and she made our faces look amazing in just our one visit. Everyone there is very personable. The spa lunch was chicken breast with a salad and some green beans. Healthy, light and good enough to hold us over through the next 75 minutes. I would definitely go back!

Kanani Spa is the most wonderful day spa in the Pearl The staff is lovely and goes far to make you feel comfortable. Everyone working there greets you with a smile and warmth. I'm lucky enough to have met most of the women but today I had the most amazing massage with their male masseuse. Beyond perfection

You will fall in love with the look and feel every moment you spend at this spa. Simply wonderful. A true getaway from it all. The Kanani Pearl Spa was the perfect choice for a birthday treat. The architecture and decor is classy and comforting. From floor to ceiling, you will notice the care that has gone into creating an experience to remember. The staff is fabulous. Caring. Calm. Communicative.

The package with a facial, massage, and body scrub was the option I bought for a family member and I. The treatments were all great. We even were able to get access to the steam room/shower for about 10 minutes before the treatments started. The massage was medium to light pressure. Good for me since I really just wanted to relax. Feel free to ask for harder pressure.

They usually check in about once and then leave it up to you to adjust more after if need be. They lotions and oils are all a nice brand made in Hawaii. Easy on the skin and nice for those with sensitivity issues. The facial was nice. Before each product was put on she said what it was. I really liked this! My skin felt wonderful! To top it all off after my facial and before my final scrub the lady gave me another 15 minute massage and then I went over to the next room for the scrub.

I have never had a scrub before. It was nice but a little rough obviously. The end result is the goal. Soft skin free of fluff. Haha! It was great. I loved my time here. 12:30 until 4pm! Talk about a great day! Thanks Kanani Pearl Spa!

Wonderful spa, experienced and caring team. Highly recommended. "A Hawaiian retreat in the Pearl" - I have had many treatments and massages here. Best day spa in Portland, in my opinion.

This is the best spa experience I've had in Portland. The spa itself is nicely decorated with Hawaiian themed decor. It's a nice cozy feel. They have tea and water in the waiting area. The staff was extremely friendly and I never felt rushed. I had a massage with Danielle and it is hands down the best massage I have had in many years. I had some neck and should pain that I needed help with but still wanted the massage to be relaxing.

The pressure she applied was perfect and my pain was gone after the massage. Even though the massage was 60 mins it felt like it lasted longer, which was really great. I also had a fantastic facial from Veronica. She was gentle with extractions and made the facial very relaxing. The face, scalp and shoulder massage during the facial was also heavenly. After the services, the check out process at the counter was seamless and easy. I can't wait to go back to Kanani Pearl Spa!

My wife had our baby 3 months ago so I decided to take her here for some time for herself. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They even helped me make it a surprise for her. My wife described the massage as the best she has ever had in a Spa and was thankful for the quality of products used as well as the high standard they had with their sanitary and clean environment. Will definitely bring her back! Awesome place!

I am rating this 5 stats because I have been at other spas that are pricier and not as good. Lauren took excellent care with me and used a little from all of their skincare lines to lift, firm and hydrate my skin. It included a hand and foot massage and warm booties and mitts to cocoon me in comfort. The skincare lines include BioTherapeutic Microcurrent, iSMedical, Epicuren and Naturopathica.

The spa itself is lovely. Intimate and welcoming. They have an entry area where you check in and out, fill out any paperwork and remove your shoes before they take you back to their waiting lounge. You enter and process through a hallway with a wooden bridge/walkway lined with vertical fountains that drop into small pools alongside the walkway. Very soothing and effective at masking noise outside the rooms.

The lounge is comfy with water, tea & magazines. Everyone was lovely, skilled and professional and I certainly am recommending this spa and will come againon my next visit to Portland.

My experience at Kanani began with some pleasant phone calls with Mary Ellen, the owner. It's always appreciated when an owner has a very hands-on experience with their business, and she helped to make mine a positive one. I had just one service while here - a 60 minute massage - and it was truly one of the best I've received. So good, in fact, that I'm pretty sure I drifted off into dreamland for a portion of it.

The space is beautiful as well - the water cascading down the walls into a river under your feet. that was quite a surprise and a clever design. Most definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a superior spa experience. I'm looking forward to returning for additional services.
