Joyful Journey is a sanctuary, a community, and a retreat, where people from all walks of life come to experience its soothing waters - to heal and find peace from the stress of their daily lives. As owner/guardian of these sacred waters since 1999, my intent is to allow our mineral hot springs' healing water and therapies to awaken the hearts and uplift the spirits of all who come, so that they might experience the amazing benefits these waters provide.
Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa is a peaceful oasis nestled in the Sangre De Cristo mountains of the San Luis Valley. Each overnight guest enjoys complimentary soaking in the mineral hot springs from the day of arrival through day of departure, as well as daily breakfast and dinner. Enjoy the comfort and serenity of The Lodge at Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa.
The water is a sodium bicarbonate type with significant levels of boron, calcium, lithium and magnesium along with several other beneficial minerals. Native American elders and spiritual masters from the Crestone area consider this area on the west side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as one of the most sacred and energetically active places in North America.
This class is also free for overnight guests & $10 for walk-ins. Call the Front Desk to sign up! For locals and day guests looking for a restorative morning, join a yoga class from 8am-9am, enjoy a healthy breakfast from 9am-10am, and then soak in the hot springs until 8pm, all for only $25! So happy that my husband and I decided to stay here to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary! Our yurt was super clean ( yurt 4# newer ones). The staff there was super accommodating and aware of our celebration. Upon entering the yurt. They went above and beyond to make it super special by including a congratulations card with a sweet treat of locally made scrumptious chocolates. Bonus gift from the Universe- The sky opened up just in time to do some stargazing right from the bed in our yurt! Honestly, the vibe here with all the shared love and abundance of kindness, along with the added bonus of a good well deserved soak in the hot spring pools and delicious meals provided, makes us want to go back for more!

Our new deserved and nature made cleansing addiction for when we are down that way! Heartfelt gratitude Joyful Journey for feeding our vessels, mind and souls ( and not to mention our bellies). We will definitely see you in the near future.

The highlight of my trip to Colorado. A true gem and a haven for all. I'm almost hesitant to write about the place because I know that my review won't do this place any justice, and for the selfish reason of wanting to keep this place all to myself. Amazing people, spa, and camping experience. Breakfast and dinner is served to overnight guests, and they always had mouth watering vegan options so we never had a problem. I am looking forward to my next visit already. Thank you for the good vibes.

We paid $60 for the "private indoor soaking pools" which was literally just two slightly larger than normal bathtubs in an uncomfortable white tile walled room. Not the experience we were hoping for on our honeymoon. One of the tubs didn't even hold water and both looked a little dirty. The outdoor pools were a little more enjoyable but still dirty and the mountain view was obstructed by dirty glass surrounding the pools.

When asked about our visit and we said it was meh, the staff person just smiled and said "good" and wished us a good day. I was supposed to get a massage but I didn't have a good feeling about the place so I skipped it. I wish we had backed out as soon as we saw the bathtubs they were offering us for our long awaited private soaking experience.

There is nothing quite like soaking in mineral water pools at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The absolute beauty of the landscape is overwhelming in the best of ways. The pools were incredibly relaxing and not too crowded. We stayed in the heated yurt with a circular window at the top for seeing the stars at night. It was truly magical. The location is remote, so make sure you prepare for the elements and for a 30-minute drive to get to any form of civilization. Being able to disconnect from reality in such a beautiful atmosphere was soothing for the soul. I can't wait to go back.

Comfortable beds. I enjoyed the tubs and the steam room. Lots of interesting merchandise available for purchase. The staff are very considerate. The food served needs some work. Dinner and breakfast were not very good. The breakfast muffins and pastries seemed homemade though. More gluten free items would be nice. The gluten free pasta served for dinner was not cooked properly at all. It's a wonderful place to visit, just bring some healthy snacks mayb.

My husband booked 2 nights at Joyful Journey as a surprise getaway for my birthday, and I couldn't have loved this place more. We had a cute little yurt that had a clear top for nightly star gazing, and spent our days lounging in the mineral springs, sitting in the sauna, being fed good food, and relaxing. Nice staff, good vibe all around. I will definitely be back!

We stayed in a yurt for 2 nights. i was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but we had a wonderful stay. if you are coming into this wanting a full blown luxury hotel experience, this is probably not the place you're looking for. our yurts were clean, had incredibly comfortable beds, and kept us warm and cozy during the cold windy nights. the meals that were prepared were always great, and it was so nice to have vegan/gf options. breakfast had so many different options, teas, coffee, infused water. the pools were also a dream. staff was extremely helpful and everyone was so kind i think we will definitely be coming back in the future

We enjoyed our visit here with our two young children while in the area. Could have stayed all day. The place is in need of a little general maintenance, but not horrible shape. The fantastic views and great hot springs make up for that. :

The staff were so friendly and worked hard as a team to provide awesome services. The meals were very filling and delicious. We stayed in a yurt and it was very comfortable and cleaner than any hotel I've ever stayed at. The shared bathrooms and shower house was spotless and we had no qualms using a shared space like that. The pools were perfect temps and didn't have that sulfur smell so you didn't feel icky while enjoying a soak. We will definitely be returning often!

We stayed here on New Years Eve 2021/22 and the day after. I was a bit nervous as the reviews were sorta all over the place. But I can say that we had an EXCELLENT time. First, I'd like to say that I enjoyed staying in the yurt. It was really neat. But it's still basically camping- as it's a giant tent. It got down to -10 degrees one night and it was cold in the yurt.

We came prepared and wore our wool long John's to bed. Both heaters were on all night. I could see how someone would have a bad night if they did not realize the yurts are fancy camping. The bath house had heated floors and was clean. The hot springs pools were nice, relaxing and clean. The water was really the star. The water cleared up a small patch of eczema on my leg in just 2 days.

Dinner and breakfast were tasty, flavorful and obviously homemade in a really good way. But yes, they are not giant Applebees portions. If you're a big eater- bring extra snacks. Also, realize that this place is considered 'way out there' by Colorado standards. So there is NOTHING out there. Be prepared. Lastly. Guys. Those. Views. Amazing! Stargazing- amazing. Disconnecting from our busy world- amazing. We are already planning going back to Joyful Journey!
