Hidden Oasis Spa Salon

When I moved to Virginia in 2013 I was afraid that I would not find an AVEDA salon that was as great as the one I had in Atlanta. I found Hidden Oasis and have been more than happy with the service. They are masterful at coloring hair and understand how to cut my hair even when I don't know what to tell them. I've had both Chris and Lydia cut/color my hair and love the results. Hidden Oasis is a "hidden gem." You won't be disappointed.

TL;DR - I asked for clarification of services from 3 separate staff and was told my expectations were reasonable. My expectations were not met and I was told I was wrong and I could pay for correction. The way scheduling is currently being done at Hidden Oasis is the customer prepays for a set amount of time. I wanted to be sure that I booked the right amount of time for what I wanted, so I texted with the salon.

I mentioned I was considering balayage or highlights and lowlights. I was told that I should book the 90 minute appointment. I asked some clarifiying questions, because - due to the vagueness of the scheduling system - I wanted to be sure I was booking for what I wanted. I was assured that I had booked correctly, and would discuss further with the stylist.

When I got to the salon, I reiterated my concerns the the stylist who greeted me (not the same one who did my hair.) "Our goal is customer satisfaction, " he told me. After waiting ~30 mins - I saw my stylist go to the desk, and overheard her say to the stylist that she was not expecting me (paraphrasing.) Oof. Not a good sign, but oh well. Once seated, I described what I was looking for and mentioned the ideas I had, and what I'd discussed when I booked the appointment.

The stylist let me know balayage was off the table - we didn't get into pricing - the reason was she had to leave at 5. She told me she could do my roots only and I was taken aback. I would not have agreed to $185 dollars for roots only. I said no. I can do my roots at home from a box, which I've been doing this whole quarantine. I told her I was surprised because I specifically had this conversation and was told we could do highlights and lowlights - and MAYBE balayage but it could cost more (maybe?) I showed a picture of color my previous stylist had done of highlights and lowlights - and the sylist agreed to do it. So, she put PARTIAL foils in - maybe 10 I did not count (she claims she put "many" in but this was not the case) - Honestly, I am not someone who is going to monitor every move.

I like to zone out at the salon and I took vacation time to go. When I left I thought my hair looked good! It was far from the best color, but I liked it. Until I realized once I was home that she hadn't covered the grey at all - she parted my hair on the side that the greys LOOKED covered. It did not look like hair that was freshly done at all. So, I texted the salon.

I explained my concerns and we arranged a time for them to fix it. They said it would "likely" be included in what I had already paid. Yesterday, I arrived for the fix appointment and was met by the stylist and owner. Let me start by saying not ONCE did I hear, "I am sorry you were unhappy with our service." I was told off the bat that the stylist offered to do my roots and I declined.

I replied, "There is no way I would have declined." I described my concerns - as outlined above, and was given these replies: "This is the going rate at a high-end salon" (I must question this description, honestly. Also, please don't confuse high-end with expensive.) "I should have looked at the new Summer Menu" (I did - I only brought up their own pricing to contest the "going-rate" comment.

Also I can reference several comparable salons with much lower pricing for a partial highlight.) "There is no way your appointment would have been booked for balayage" (Texts I have still indicate otherwise, but ok.) We spent nearly 30 minutes going back and forth - me explaining my concerns and them essentially telling me I'm wrong to have expected something different.

I take issue with that sentiment, since I asked THREE different members of staff if I could expect to receive 1 of 2 things and was assured I could. I explained that even if it was going to be more money, they should have said so up front instead of saying they could fulfill my request and then NOT fulfilling it. The owner said "Do you want your roots fixed? Because I'll fix them but I'm charging the price of product." Naw, dude. For many reasons, no.

Hidden Oasis is definitely a hidden gem. I have been doing laser hair treatments with Katie and I am so happy. The staff is always courteous, flexible and extremely helpful. They take COVID precautions seriously and I feel completely safe and comfortable going in for my appointments. The actual treatments themselves have been super effective and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Katie is knowledgeable, friendly and ultra professional. I recommend Hidden Oasis to anyone and everyone.

I've been going to Hidden Oasis for more than 4 years - and now the rest of my family goes as well. We love the staff, are thrilled they use Aveda products, and the result is always great. I usually do a color and cut, and have really enjoyed the results every time. I recommend them to anyone who asks.

Amazing experience! One of the best haircuts I've had in a long time. Beautiful and clean salon with super friendly staff. I had no idea what I even wanted done to my hair, all I knew was it was overgrown and unmanageable. Lydia was so kind and knew exactly what I needed and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend!

The spa refused to help me with an issue that was easily resolvable. My family and friends will not use this spa again.

I went here after purchasing a groupon and I so happy I did. The Salon was clean and had great parking. The ladies in the salon were all professional, friendly, and knew how to make everyone feel comfortable. My stylist was Keyleigh. She is beyond talented at color, she is board certified and all around master at her craft. She was lovely to chat with and she made me feel beautiful and confident walking out of that salon. My hair has never looked better. Definitely recommend.

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value Came in for a color and trim this morning and Kayleigh did a fantastic job was able to help me decide on a color to get done. Both the other employees said they really liked my new hair and that it looked fantastic

The owner Lydia and her staff are fantastic! I've been going to Hidden Oasis for over 6 years and have been extremely happy with every service I've received. Lydia goes above and beyond in customer service. I'm thankful I have this access to high end, quality hair care in my backyard!

Everyone, go see Lydia! Never in my life have I had a stylist act like she really cared and be as detailed as much as she was today. Instead of just going along with what I suggested I wanted, she took the time to explain why certain things might not have been so great with my hair type, and what would have been better. She also thoroughly explained what she was doing the whole time and why she was doing it.

I used a Groupon today, but will come back in the future, with or without a Groupon! Clean, bright, calm salon, fun music, good selection of Aveda products, and friendly staff. Lydia was super fun and sweet.

So new year new hair right?!? I desperately needed to get my hair cut and a little color could do no wrong for me with the dreary and grey NOVA weather as of late. My girl Kayleigh who used to be in Herndon doing her own thing is now a heck of a lot closer to me at Hidden Oasis in Fairfax Station. And ladies - if you want a chill, relaxing, low key place to get your hair done check this place out!

So calming from the time I walked through the door to the time I left. Kayleigh hooked me up with gorgeous color and the cut I absolutely love! : Cannot wait to go back in a few weeks to add a little more shine to my cinnamon dulce hair!

Muska's Hair cutting skills are absolutely on point! It's hard to find a stylist that can knows how to do layers and Muska has skills. I'm in love with my latest cut. Thank you so much Muska, you listened and delivered! True artist!

I found a Groupon for laser hair removal treatment and started with a small area (under arm). I got it for a steal on Groupon with an additional deal and did not realize there was a spa right up the street. Katie was incredibly warm and accommodating for the experience. The ambience was relaxing and reassuring for any remaining nerves. She was responsive and set me up for another appointment when I called and honored the Groupon for two other areas.

The entire experience for 3 areas took less than 10 minutes, 15 in and out the door. The laser technology was much less painful compared to another center I've been to but my own results have been surprisingly effective after one session! I would have never believed it which is why I've avoided it for the usually high priced and unpredictable results. I wish I had done this sooner with Katie! Would have saved a lot of time and money in the long run. Highly recommend.

I had the most wonderful facial of my life the other day from Katie. She is fantastic to work with and always goes out of her way to make me as comfortable as possible, giving me a true "spa" experience. The Aveda plant peel was super relaxing and incorporated some elements of aromatherapy and massage, which I loved. I didn't realize how dry my face had been until I saw the difference the facial made. Afterward my skin felt super smooth and looked great. I immediately made an appointment for another next month!

What a great place, not too far from home! A great shout out to Katie Nichol and the very knowledgeable staff. You will not be disappointed with any of their beauty or styling services. I highly recommend!

From the beautiful decor to the warm, friendly staff, you feel comfortable right away in this salon. I love how my stylist took the time to get to know me and my hair needs/past before diving into my color treatment. Definitely coming back for more here!

I normally hate having my hair done but Chris was so cool and I absolutley love what she did. She is super knowledgable about what works and doesn't work for face types, hair types and skin tone. The web scheduling was very convenient. Highly recommend.

Christine was fantastic! She does really awesome work and very personable. She above and beyond to help calm my wife down on our wedding day. She did her hair for our big day. Definitely would recommend her and this place.

Katie is absolutely the best. I have worked with a number of different technicians in the past 6 months and she is by far the most caring. Polite, professional, and attentive she has greeted me by name and with a smile every appointment. Her service is swift, professional and clean. Her work environment is usually bustling with activity and overall the entire experience has been wonderful.

I am happy with the progress in my laser hair removal and would recommend to any ladies looking for treatment on a small, feminine area to please give Katie a chance, you'll get your money's worth and them some.

I have had such a great experience here with my hair that I haven't gone anywhere else, but was super excited to find out that they offer MedSpa services! I had been hearing about Coolsculpting and after doing some research and talking to Caroline about it I am really happy I chose to do it. My experience was amazing! The room is closed off from the salon, it's very spacious and relaxing.

Between the oil infuser, the dim lighting and the soothing music I literally fell asleep during my treatment. I am already happy with the results I am seeing and I will definitely be coming back for more treatments in the future. :

I've gotten balayage and hair cuts from Chris and I'm always been super happy with it! She gets my hair texture and how I want it cut and styled. I love coming here because it's clean and just a pretty, relaxing salon. The website is easy to use, too. Definitely recommend Hidden Oasis!

Yesterday, after 15 years going to Hair Trendz in Springfield (closed) for my haircuts (male) I needed to make an appointment. After a quick internet search for local salons, I found Hidden Oasis. The web scheduling was great. The bios of the staff were even better. I made an appointment for Friday morning with Jamie. Upon entering the salon, it was very clean and the staff very friendly.

I can't give enough platitudes to Jamie on the haircut she gave me. My wife said it was the best in many years. I will now make Hidden Oasis my go to place for haircuts (as long as Jamie is there).

I completely agree with Margarita's review. I should have read the Yelp reviews before buying the Groupon. I walked out with 15 lashes per eye. Ridiculous! 60-80 lashes an eye is a full set not 15! DO NOT go there for eye lashes extension. Biggest sham ever.

I feel bad writing this review, mainly because I should have done much more research before getting lash extensions. Going to Hidden Oasis instead of a certified lash extension salon was a mistake. The salon website lists a full set as 20 lashes per eye. Actually, a full set is at minimum 100 lashes per eye. When I got them done, my husband immediately asked, "Are they supposed to look so.sparse?" As the days went by and the lashes fell out (starting as soon as I left the salon), they looked even worse.

My bottom lashes got glued to the extensions, which was very painful and I couldn't open my eye all the way until I had to rip some of my bottom lashes out! Some of the extensions were also glued to the eyelid instead of just the lash. My eyelid became inflamed because the glue was pulling on the skin as my natural lashes grew out. I also don't think that quality materials are used.

They felt plasticky and I could see light reflected off them which threw off my vision at night. Muska is very sweet, but based on the discounts I received and the end result, I think she is a beginner in applying them. Thank heavens I didn't pay the atrocious price listed on the site ($200 for a "full set"). I would have been livid. I went to another salon where I got the extensions redone by an experienced technician. The difference is night and day, and the technician explained what went wrong and what makes an expertly done set different.

Very Impressed with the service I receive from Shahnaz for skin tightening treatments. A true professional who works with me to help achieve my goals. She is very knowledgeable, warm and kind. She never rushes thru treatments like I have experienced from other spas. She always takes time to answer my questions and set up a successful protocol for me. Highly recommend service here from Shahnaz. Great knowledgeable service, great results in just three treatments! I will also be doing IPL and other treatments with her!

I called ahead to make appointment and ask for someone that had experience with my hair type. The receptionist paused and acted like I was asking a dumb question but did suggest someone. Never have I been treated so rude. Then I arrived at my appointment. The lady was nice, the place was nice, the receptionist needed an attitude adjustment. I was of course very sceptical in the cut I was going to get.

I explained everything. She did a pretty good job but took 2 hours to cut and style my hair! It's never taken so long. And usually I get a shoulder and neck massage at Aveda salons - here I did not.

I had a wedding to go to last weekend and was in need of a hairstylist. My friend recommended LILA HARRIS. where do i start! Shes amazing! Super nice. She asked me what look i was going for and she got right to it. She is even a make up artist and very knowledgeable. She even gave me tips for the future to do on my own. I didnt feel rushed at any time. The outcome was beautiful! I posted a pic. I will definitely be going back to her and recommending her to everyone!

One star is too many for this place. THe 'colorist' turned my hair orange- something that hasn't happened in the 17 years I've been bleaching my hair. She tried three times to 'fix' it. Even leaving midway through to get Splenda to put on my poor burning scalp. Just yesterday they did the same thing to my friend! She had 'sunny D' hair, as she called it.

They tried to fix it but after 4 hours my friend had to go home to get her kids. Now she's back again today. Seriously this is supposed to be an aveda salon. Save your money and definitely don't seek a color job here!
